![]() ![]() The Samyang 8mm CS II fisheye lens offers great build quality, special toothed rings, varied mounting options, and decent image quality. Both rings function seamlessly, and the design of the lens will also appeal to many, with a middle red ring and discreet markings printed on the body. The lens is designed to be super steady: nothing wobbles out of place, making the lens capable of handling some bumping in your backpack with no risk of damage. ![]() Weighing 455g and being equipped with 10 elements in 7 groups, the lens feels solid and sturdy, with a mix of external plastics and internal metals with a metal mount. Long story short, for its price, the Rokinon 8mm lens does its job beautifully and will work well to help you complete a portfolio for enthusiast creators. The package includes locking lens caps for both ends of the lens and a storage pouch. The focus system is smooth and well-dampened: maybe, not ideal for professional creators, but will definitely suit the needs of amateur photographers. It’s solidly constructed and delivers excellent image quality thanks to its hybrid aspherical elements and multi-layer coating. The lens gives a wide 180-degree field of view with dramatic, exaggerated perspective, and can capture beautiful images with unique color rendering. The Rokinon 8mm is a great affordable fisheye lens to get your creativity flowing. With this Rokinon lens, the images, all detailed and beautifully color rendered, get a unique metallic look. To get the best results, consider slightly underexposing the images - this will require you to shoot in manual mode. The Rokinon 8mm delivers exceptional image quality - you will just need to get used to the lens and its capabilities. Superb image quality with unique color rendering the Canon 8-15mm comes at a higher-than-average price point, so might not be best suitable for beginners, but is definitely a ticket for professionals. The build quality is an evident step up from the discontinued EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye lens: the current one boats weather-sealed, reliable construction. ![]() This lens is a flexible option for Canon photographers - it’s suitable for multiple Canon bodies with different sensor sizes, offering superb optical quality. The image quality is excellent - the lens produces sharp and contrasting pictures, with resistance to ghosting and flare. On full-frame cameras, its features peak in efficiency - it’s a hard-to-beat lens in terms of versatility. The 8-15mm is an incredibly versatile fisheye among Canon lenses that allows you to switch between diagonal and circular effects with an easy twist of the zoom ring. Don’t get discouraged, though: it’s something that can be easily removed at post-production. Sometimes you can notice some light color fringing if you use the lens with older Canon cameras with no automatic correction. The Canon 8-15mm features flare resistance which helps enhance the image quality even further. Images produced with this lens are detailed and sharp, even when viewed at full magnification. ![]() Superb image quality and flare resistance It’s well-priced for the included features and comes with a good projection. With the 180-degree diagonal field of view, the lens delivers a curved fisheye distortion that looks great when the lens is used effectively. This lens is one of the widest to work with full-frame cameras, but despite this feature and its f2.8 aperture, it’s still lightweight and compact. Although it doesn’t have in-built autofocus, the focusing system is still functioning well. It’s a completely manual lens when used with the majority of cameras, only enabling aperture control from the camera body with a Nikon F mount. The Samyang 12mm is a full-frame diagonal fisheye lens available for a wide range of mounting systems, capable of producing images of impressive sharpness and with minimal color fringing, along with resistance to ghosting and flare. Since you can’t use a protective filter or a UV filter on this lens, it’s a good idea to keep the hood on all the time when shooting - this way, you’ll protect the bulbous front from knocks. It also features a detachable petal-shaped hood that effectively contributes to minimizing flare and ghosting. Featuring 7 aperture blades, the lens is designed to become almost a full circle when the aperture is closed. The frame of this Samyang lens is made of super-strong aluminum alloy to make it sturdy and reliable. ![]() ![]() I can’t wait until she’s big enough for the sleep sack. This effect of the Mozilla trademark policy led to a long debate within the Debian Project in 20.ĭuring this debate, the name "Iceweasel" was coined to refer to rebranded versions of Firefox. ![]() As the logo did not meet these requirements, it could not be used by software which was to be included in Debian. The Debian Free Software Guidelines are used by the Debian project to determine whether a license is a free license, which in turn is used to determine whether something can be included in Debian. Mozilla Foundation owns the trademark "Firefox" and claims the right to deny the use of the name and other trademarks to unofficial builds. Main article: Firefox History History and origin of name There was also no change to how non- free components, such as Flash, were found or used. The rebranded products still used some Internet-based services from Mozilla, including the Mozilla plugin finder service, and Mozilla add-ons and their update notifications. Applications ĭebian's Iceweasel, Icedove, Iceowl, and Iceape were based on Mozilla's Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird, and SeaMonkey, respectively. The decade-long branding issues between the Debian Project and Mozilla Corporation ended in 2017 when all Mozilla applications in Debian were reverted to their original names. In 2016, a number of Mozilla employees and Debian maintainers argued that the branding was no longer needed, and on 10 March 2016, Debian's unstable branch switched back to the Mozilla branding, with the stable branch planning to switch after Iceweasel's end of life. In July 2007, Iceowl, a rebranded version of Mozilla Sunbird, was added to the unstable branch of Debian. These changes were implemented in the subsequent version of Debian (Etch). The new names established by Debian were Iceweasel for Mozilla Firefox, Icedove for Mozilla Thunderbird, and Iceape for SeaMonkey. The Debian Project subsequently rebranded the Mozilla Firefox program, and other software released by Mozilla, so that Debian could distribute modified software without being bound by the trademark requirements that the Mozilla Foundation had invoked. At issue were modifications not approved by the Mozilla Foundation, when the name for the software remained the same. The free software philosophy is the root and motivation of the guidelines and goals of the whole free software movement, a worldwide community. In 2006, a branding issue developed when Mike Connor, representing the Mozilla Corporation, requested that the Debian Project comply with Mozilla standards for use of the Thunderbird trademark when redistributing the Thunderbird software. Its principal sponsor is the Free Software Foundation. The GNU Project was launched in 1984 to develop a complete Unix-like operating system which is free software-free as in freedom, not price. (Previously, this GNU browser project was also named IceWeasel, but that proved confusing.) Technically, however, these projects are maintained entirely independently of IceCat. The gNewSense BurningDog browser and the Debian IceWeasel browser are similarly derived from Firefox, also with the intent of being free software. Ice isn't Fire and a Cat isn't a Fox, so it is clearly a different package (we don't want Mozilla blamed for our mistakes, nor cause confusion with their trademarks), but is equally clearly intimately related (of course nearly all of the work comes from the Mozilla foundation effort, so we want to give credit). We reviewed companies offering gold IRA services, screening them for the highest consumer ratings from the Better Business Bureau (BBB). I will use examples of EU intervention in proximate third countries to deduce whether the EU is a normative power and argue that the more pragmatic approach of the English School based on solidarist and pluralist thought is a more pertinent conception of the EU as an international actor (Aggestam 2008: 5). ![]() ![]() Issues of sovereignty and developments in its European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) suggest it is receding from normative power. Then, I will analyse whether Manners’ argument of normative power is achievable in world politics and if the EU is moving closer or further away from this conception. It may portray itself as one, but does it act in a manner befitting its given conception? However, to assess whether the EU is a normative power, it is necessary to consider some of the EU’s actions and analyse whether other conceptualisations of the EU as an international actor, including neo-realism and the English School, are more applicable.įurthermore, is being a normative power achievable? What is a ‘global common good’ and is it possible to diffuse it universally? I will begin the essay by identifying the key aspects that Manners cites as central to the EU as a normative power. This then allows for analysis of whether the EU is a normative power. He defines this as the way ‘it changes the norms, standards and prescriptions of world politics away from bounded expectations of state-centricity’, which ‘are generally acknowledged, within the United Nations system, to be universally applicable’ (2008: 45-46). Ian Manners has long argued that the EU is a normative power. That is a fitting way of describing the EU’s global role and ambition’ (Aggestam 2008: 6). Former High Representative Javier Solana commented: ‘The EU has responsibility to work for the ‘global common good’. The debate has moved from the individual member state level of analysis to an analysis of the EU as a distinct institution, which has allowed for an increased critique of its conceptual role in world politics (White 2004: 17). Amid the Yugoslavian debacle, the signing of the Treaty on European Union in 1992 signalled a more coherent outlook for an EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), which bound its members to common policies over issues including humanitarian aid and peacekeeping, in addition to other policies such as trade and cooperation agreements, conflict prevention and economic sanctions, to the point where it is the only genuine supranational power in world politics (Smith 2005: 171). The collapse of the Soviet Union left a number of states in Eastern Europe grappling for national sovereignty Civil War in Yugoslavia erupted the United States entered the Gulf War and West and East Germany were reunited. ![]() After nearly fifty years of a bi-polar superpower dominated world, with Europe as the epicentre, the EU (European Community prior to 1993) was suddenly presented with a multitude of challenges that needed to be addressed for it to be considered a power in the international system. Following the end of the Cold War in 1989 and the subsequent upheaval in Europe, scholars in the field of Politics and International Relations have sought to conceptualise the European Union (EU) as an international actor. ![]() ![]() This cookie is set by GDPR Cookie Consent plugin. My thoughts about these contradictions found expression in my character Pearl, a shy young girl held at the mercy of her “gift”. She spoke with a voice of authority, but that voice was not her own. Nineteenth-century medium Elizabeth d’Esperance wrote in her memoir Shadow Land, “I feel very much like reminding that she ought to be obliged to me, and take some notice of me sitting there, instead of sweeping past in so unceremonious a fashion.”ĭ’Esperance’s quote illustrates the paradox at the heart of the spirit medium’s life: while she apparently possessed a power, she needed to become passive to exercise it. ![]() Rather than being wanted, she was a mere gateway that even the spirits suffered as an inconvenience. ![]() Although the medium could be a “star” such as Florence Cook in the 1870s, her real purpose was to disappear from the room altogether. (I do have a few of those in the “you might like” section for each game though!) This means there are really great solo games that you will not find in this list, sorry about that.
